At The Roof Doctor, our goal when assessing issues with your roof is always to provide you with the most cost-effective solutions. There are many cases where our technicians can repair your roof in simple ways that will last for years, but also others where these repairs won’t be enough and the best course of action will be a roof replacement.
We’re here to help with everything from start to finish if you need a new roof, from selecting the right materials within your budget to providing full-service installation. And while our roofers will handle every part of the process, there are a few things you as a homeowner can do to ready your home and property for us – these will make things more convenient for everyone involved. Here are a couple areas to consider.

Outdoor Areas and Access
The primary work we’ll be doing will obviously take place outside your home, and all we ask is that the primary areas we’ll be working in are clear and free of debris. If you have outdoor furniture in the area, we ask that it’s moved. The same goes for garbage bins, child toys or anything else that might be present and create a hazard.
One other outdoor tip: For homes with an air conditioning condenser unit that sits right next to the structure, we recommend placing wood or some other kind of protection over it just in case of falling roof debris. In addition, we recommend turning off your thermostat and unplugging your power while we work, just to be safe.
Breakable Items
If you have any fragile items you want protected at all costs, such as picture frames, mirrors or expensive furnishings, you may want to remove these ahead of time due to the vibrations often caused during new roof construction.
Pets and Children
Our roofing replacements will help keep your children and any pets in the home safe, but these same smaller bodies can be a risk to us as we move parts and equipment around your property. If at all possible, try to keep children and pets away from the work area while we’re on-site.
Attic Access
For some roofing replacement jobs, we may require access to your attic to fully complete the process. If this is the case, we just ask for a similarly clear path to the attic as you created outside toward the roof. Let us know in advance if there are any areas that are firmly off-limits, and our staff will not enter them.
Driveway Space
If we’re tearing off significant previous roofing materials, we’ll often use a dump truck or portable dumpster for this. We’d prefer to place this in the driveway where there’s ample space if possible, which will prevent debris from spreading around your property or the rest of the neighborhood.
